WHAT IS A STRUCTURAL WARRANTY?

Did you know that one in four homes will suffer some form of structural distress, costing on average $42,500? Knowing this, it’s important for home buyers and home builders to protect themselves with a structural warranty.

A home warranty is a contract between the contractor, the homeowner, and the home warranty provider and is different from the homeowner’s insurance because the items it covers are different. Generally, a homeowner’s insurance protects the home against disasters such as fires, floods, and earthquakes; among other things. However, a home warranty is intended to cover the costs incurred in the event that a home appliance such as a furnace or electrical system breaks down or shorts out. It is important to note that it does not cover all home appliances so be careful to go over the fine print in the sample contract carefully.

Watch in this video as our family, the Johnsons, learn about a structural warranty and the importance of buying from a quality builder who includes structural warranty protection from Homes 4 You Construction.
